Description: This introductory course will focus on the nature of light and color. It will include not only the principles of geometric and physical optics but also general properties of waves and particles; the relation between light and matter; quantum theory and photons; light, heat, temperature and energy; and the conservation of energy. These physical principles will be applied to understanding color in art, vision, photography, holography, fiber optics, and atmospheric effects.
