Paralegal (A.A.S.) - The paralegal program, approved by the American Bar Association, is designed to
give the graduate a broad understanding of the law, practical skills, and experience
in a legal setting. Employment opportunities for paralegals exist in law offices,
banks, insurance companies, private industry, title companies, and government. The
paralegal works under the supervision of an attorney and can assist in all phases
of practice except giving legal advice, appearing in court, and setting fees.
The program will accept a maximum of 9 credits of paralegal specialty transfer credits.
Paralegals are required to complete a minimum of 9 credits in a traditional or remote
format at NCC.
Students who have an Associate or Baccalaureate degree should see information about the Paralegal Studies Certificate Program in this catalog. Because of the complexity of the program, students must be advised by the Paralegal Department. A minimum grade of "C" is required in all LAW courses.
