PHI 106 - Introduction to Ethics

Prerequisites: Students must have satisfied all ENG and RDG developmental requirements prior to starting the course. Please note that PHI 101 is not a prerequisite.

Description: This course introduces students to problems in moral philosophy. The class focuses on the theoretical foundations for judgments about right and wrong, good and evil, and justice and injustice. Philosophers studied will include Plato, Aristotle, Immanuel Kant, John Stuart Mill and others. Special attention will be paid to how philosophy can help us to address issues such as free speech, affirmative action, poverty, the use of technology, and environmental concerns.
