Health Information Technology (A.A.S.)
The AAS degree in HIT is designed to prepare students, through coursework and internships, for employment as health information technicians. Health Information technicians organize and manage health information data. They ensure the quality of medical records by verifying their completeness, accuracy, and proper entry into computer systems. They use various computer applications to assemble, analyze and categorize patient information for insurance reimbursement purposes, for databases and registries, and to maintain patients’ medical and treatment records.
